Day 2 - By Vicki

Leaving from our home marina in Hernando Beach, FL

First night on the boat and I slept really well; Aaron had a custom memory foam topper added to the boat (Thank you Don for making that).

We started or voyage early, around 8am.  The cat, who  had finally settled down and was completely relaxed, ran to her hiding spot when Aaron fired up the engines.  At least she wasn't howling.

It really was a beautiful day to be out on the water.   The weather was perfect and the water was as sooth as glass.  We were loving it.  It was the perfect start to our adventure.
After the boat was going, the cat settled down and started looking around.  I though the motion might freak her our the same way the car freaks her out, but it seems that she is only bothered by the noise.  it didn't take long before she was looking out the sliding glass door watching the wake behind us.

We were enjoying being on the water and taking our time.  Aaron was only going about 20 knots per hour.  Everything was picture perfect.

After about two hours the right engine alarm suddenly went off.  Ten seconds later the left engine alarm went off.  Not good.  This has happened before due to an overheating problem which we believed had been finally fixed.

We stopped the boat and started brainstorming what to do.  Do we go home?  Do we let it cool off and press on?   What should we do?

We decide to let it cool for an hour and see if we could at least make it to Tarpon Spring, after all, it took 2 hours for the boat to overheat the 1st time. Unfortunately, we only went another 30 minutes before the alarms went off again so we went to plan B and got it Sea Towed to the closest marina which turned out the be in Hudson.  Luckily, we found a mechanic that would come to the marina tomorrow and check the boat out.  With any luck it will be something simple and we will be on our way tomorrow afternoon.

We decided to make the best of it and enjoyed a nice dinner at the Get Hooked tiki bar restaurant.  We later took a walk to Walgreens so I could get some chocolate.  Can you believe I forgot to pack chocolate?

  1. Wow! Sounds like your journey is already turning into a real adventure. Dale Carnegie once said: " The person who goes farthest is the one who is willing to do and dare. The sure-thing boat never gets far from shore. " I hope you get to continue on with your plans............GOOD LUCK !
