Day 12 - By Vicki

I’m updating the blog a little early today because the waters are finally calm.  It’s difficult to look at a computer screen when the entire room is tossing back and forth and up and down.  Imagine using your computer on a teeter totter.  The boat was crazy rocking this morning so we went to land as soon as we could.  I was awake by 9:30 am, and anyone who knows me understands that is a small miracle.

We walked down to the farmers market and picked up some produce.  It’s a nice little event with over 100 vendors and a live band.  They have this every Saturday morning.  We also went Publix to pick up some Dramamine and stuff for sandwiches.  Around 2pm we took the  loop trolley back to the boat to drop off some stuff.  To our amazement, the boat was  calm and quite in the water.  We decided to take advantage of this rare moment and chilled out in the boat for a few hours.  If it rains again like the weather forecast predicts the boat will start rocking.  If the boat starts rocking, I’m going to land, torrential downpours, intense heat, I don’t care.  East winds of 20 knots or above is too much for me.  There is no seawall protecting us from the east winds.

Everywhere We Need to Go

We went to the St Pete Yacht Club to wait out the rain and my new favorite bartender, Mike, made me a key lime martini.   He creates a new concoction for me every time we go there.

Key Lime Martini is AMAZING

Kramit the Cat was hiding in the corner of the bed most of the day under some pillows.  I think she is tired of all this rocking or maybe she’s sleep deprived from all this drama.  Plus our new boat slip neighbor has three dogs.   At least we can get off the boat for a while, but we can’t exactly take our cat for a walk on a leash.  Poor thing is stuck here.  Traveling for long periods of time is tricky when you have a cat.  They don’t like cars, they are afraid in new places, and they get lonely when left alone too many hours.  For the most part though, Kramit has been a real trooper,  She loves looking out the window hanging out with us on the couch.

Around Midnight Aaron decided it would be a good idea to make spaghetti on the boat while it was rocking and rolling.  That was kind of crazy.   I wish I had a video clip of that, but imagine trying to cook spaghetti while on a teeter totter.  We have one hotplate and two small pans to cook with.  There is a great little set up at the dock to cook outside, with electric outlets, good lighting, tables and it's covered, but Aaron wanted to try cooking on the boat.

PS- I hope my blog continues to be this boring because days one through ten really kicked my ass.
